Aggression: A Superpower In Poker
I drove to Concord, NC, for a big freeroll Texas Hold'em bounty tournament. This was the largest tournament I had played in at the time. The night before, I was in my hotel room and couldn't sleep. So I began reading this book I had just gotten, Phil Gordon's "Little Green Book." I got two-thirds of the way through the book that night.
It opened my eyes to how and when to play aggressively—the right moments to steal blinds, the proper betting on a bluff, etc. Because of the knowledge I gained that night, I played well in that tournament and placed 4th out of 242 players.
This tournament is where the infamous eight-four-hand happened. IYKYK. This book helped take me from a rock player to a TAG player.
Ultimately, my main lesson is how to use aggression to my advantage. Not every aggressive player is good, but every good player is aggressive.
See you on the felt.
